So we're well on our way to meeting the forum, I thought it might also be good to "meet the systems" of the forum members.

Right now I'm using a Compaq 800mhz, 128 ram, 17inch monitor, computer favoring IE 5.5. You? Do we have any Mac users out there?

P.S. My resolution is 800x600.

Hi,
PIII 733mhz, 256 ram, 32ram video, 64bit multimedia card, 13gig HDD + 1.2gig backup drive, 15" compaq monitor (800x600). nothing real great here, just a good reliable work horse.

I use a few too
2 different HP's...a 500mhz, and a 550mhz...as well as a compac presario 333mhz (good computer, but a litte lazy on the starup and application speed). I am probably going to get a sony vaio 700+mhz laptop to replace my 500mhz and 333mhz laptop. Any thoughts on this? I looked it up on consumer reports, and it was rated well.

Which password? Is it the typical windows login that you log in to on any PC?

I haven't really messed around on NT, but if it is just an environmental setting login like on 95/98, then you should be able to just press "cancel" on the log in prompt, and login anyway. Then you can delete your old account, and create a new one.

(Again, I'm inexperienced in NT, however if it is like the other versions of windows, then the login is just for personalized environmental settings.

You must login to NT to access your computer, unlike Win9x. It is a multi-user environment, like UNIX and a ROOT account(Administrator). You must login to access your computer.

HP 333Mhz, AMD-K6-2, Upgraded to 128Ram and 30gig HDD and Philips 8x4x32? CD-RW. 17" Monitor (800 x 600 res), scanner & cable modem.

I am thinking about building a new system and pulling out the HDD and CD-RW for the new box.

Here are the upgrades I am thinking about. What is the consensus on Intel vs. AMD?

Irwin S500 case with 250w Powerman power supply $47.00
AMD Thunderbird 1.1Ghz w/ 266mhz side bus $174.00
Asus Motherboard A7A266 very expandable $154.00
256 MB RAM (1 256MB Chip) $72.00
Soundblaster Live sound card $49.00
Diamond Stealth III S540 32MD Video Card $54.00
Misc - Case Fans, CPU Cooler, 3.5" Floppy Drive etc $50

Total cost Approx.: $600.00

What do you think? Am I missing anything important?

An overclocked 500Mhz
An undisclosed amount of RAM (there is more on my graphics card than on my motherboard!)
17 inch monitor
Mouse
Keyboard
Printer.

By the way, I accidentally found how to reset the bios password while messing with the insides of my computer. I was putting a new floppy drive in.
