I'm new to site construction. I've built www.honourguard.org (http://www.honourguard.org) and I could use some critical analysis.
Thanks! CM

I think that the text on the tartan background is slightly too hard to read and displeasing to the eye.

Images (IMHO) are used well and too much.

I think that the navigation bar is a bit hard to find as it is just two lines in the middle of the page, try making it stand out a bit more and make it easier to find.

All opinions above are the author's and are in no way associated with anything or anyone. If you disagree please send all comments to your nearest trash bin. Actually send them to ewanfranz@supanet.com

Great concept, but a couple of minor things came to mind immediately.

First, if it is possible for you to do, I would fade the background so that it is not so visible (i.e. whitewash it or make it a ghost image). The text is difficult to read over it.

Second, I would rethink the chrome look in your Title and horizontal bars. Because of the background, they almost blend right in. Maybe a solid black for the title bar text, and a light gray for the horizontal bars.

Lastly, I would definately change the navigation links at the very bottom of the page to white. They are almost impossible to read.

Keep it up and don't get discouraged.

Honest as usual.

I personally hate frames.... is there anyway you can do the site without? (Reason: They look ugly when peoples screens are smaller)

Why have beveled graphics for no reason? Perhaps create mouse over effects (as www.response-marketing.co.uk) (http://www.response-marketing.co.uk))

Why have a hit counter? I'm assuming this is for your use only.... HIDE IT.
Other people aren't interested how many people visit your site unless it's thousands.

I really like the layout and additional of the text graphics at the bottom.... so many people forget these!

Do you need to have a banner for your hosts on the site? You have 2.... I would highly recommend removal if you don't

Hope this helps,

Jon

you need to get a different photo on the first page. The clarity is horrible, it gives the site a bad start. You homeoage is one of the most important pages, there poeple decide to continue to look at your site, or to just x out the site
