promoting entertainment sites

Hey all,
as indicated by my sig I have a network of entertainment sites going live next month,what I am interested in is finding out(other than standard advertising methods) if there are any non-traditional advertising methods that would be effective in promoting entertainment related sites...
The networks main entertainment areas are tentative as such:
Gaming{mainly articles,interviews and reviews}
Idols and Celebs{info portal}
Animation{including japanese animation(anime),excluding hentai}
stuff like that.

The best way to promote sites like these are link exchanges. Join as many top sites that are in your content area as you could.

Find sites that you can "leverage off their promotional efforts."

Example: if you are selling Star Wars toys online, then exchange links with Star Wars fan sites and benifit from their traffic.
