The guys here have done a very good job in promoting these forums, and i was wondering if you guys could share this with me :p

I am trying to promote my forums (See link in sig) and have done quite well so far, 100 members, 1,800 posts.

But is there something extra i can do ?

The best way to promote a forum is through sites of relevant interest. If the forum itself is the only site you have, try contacting sites with similar revelancy for link exchanges. Also, if it is your only site, you might want to consider starting a content site yourself that ties into the forums. Most importantly, be patitent with it. Forums take a lot of time and attention to grow. Your visitors need to have a sincere interest in the forums in order for them to become lively.

I have a few goog members already that are regular visitors/posters. and i have just done a bit of a promotion, i am offering a domain for the top poster next month, I have made it fair by not just saying total post count wins, but the total number of posts made between those two dates!

I am also thinking about a VB toplist system!

Or you could follow webmaster-talk's technical,

Allow members to put up their own banner ad for free and require them to put in at least X amount of post per month. THis way you can ensure there are enough traffic on your forum.

First, create an ideal client profile.
Then do some reasearch on sites who list ad swaps.

My site attracts freelancers. So you might ask me what my ad swap policy is... if in deed I have one <g>
