Can anyone tell me whats involved in setting up my own HTML practice board? I have CGI access on my server, is there a specific script for this?
Thanks, http://talkboard.123webmaster.com/ubbhtml/smile.gif

Hi Nikki,

What are you practicing for? We're already pretty well represented for the next olympics http://talkboard.123webmaster.com/ubbhtml/biggrin.gif

Seriously though, if you mean that you'd like to set up a message forum, you can check out the listings at 123webmaster here:

Actually, I'm building a modest HTML tutorial, showing basic stuff, tags, gifs & pics etc., I'd like to have an area where the viewer can *test* their codes, within my own site. I've been looking for scripts for this in vain for months now... http://talkboard.123webmaster.com/ubbhtml/frown.gif

Nikki,

Some message boards (like this one) give you the option to "turn on" html posts. This means that if we allowed it, you could create your own little web page right here. So a message board could still be your solution.

Hi Nikki,

What your looking for would be really easy to code. Do you have any programming experience? specifically perl/cgi?

If not, I can post some code for you to get started.

Hi Guys, I think once I get the hang of Flash, next up will be having a go at CGI/Perl, but until then, no, sorry, I can't write my own. I found a site thats almost exactly what I'm looking to do for mine, its here: http://www.e-pixs.com/practice.html
I don't expect anyone to write programs for me, but if anyone knows a source or script site that might help, I'd appreciate it http://talkboard.123webmaster.com/ubbhtml/smile.gif)
Happy July 4th!!

Hi Nikki,
I went to that url and I really don't think that test board is all that great, you only have to read the "A few reminders" section and see that does not allow you to do and test quite a few things. You could try a javascript html creator, that would allow your visitors to create any html and the user could then test the page by viewing it in a seperate browser window. What do you think?

I would have to agree with Ian, in that javascript would be the best solution for what your looking for. It will not only keep the server load on the clients side (which shouldn't be a problem anyhow, but is always nice), and you don't have to worry about writing to files on your system (safer).

After reading your advice, I went looking for such a program, and found one at http://skolor.nacka.se/samskolan/anders/htmledit.htm
Its *almost* what I want hehe.... all I really need is a "view" button, just so people can tell if it worked or not. Would you guys know where I can find a code like this?
(PS)-- You guys *all* seem to work for the same company, can anyone post replies to ?'s or are answers strictly from you...thanks for your help, anyways http://talkboard.123webmaster.com/ubbhtml/smile.gif http://talkboard.123webmaster.com/ubbhtml/smile.gif

Hi Nikki,
Anyone can reply and post here, we just seem to get in first http://talkboard.123webmaster.com/ubbhtml/smile.gif. That javascript editor is along the lines of what I was thinking. I see it has a "Preview" button there, that should work the same as your "View" butoon.
Let us know how you get on.
Good Luck.
