Know those places that say they'ss submit your site to 450 search engies for $19.95? Are they worth it? Is it a scam? Does it give you a lot of traffic? Thanks!!

It is my personal suguestion, (though some people might disagree), that those site are just a wast of your time and money. However 123 hosts an excelent tutorial on the subject of Site Promotion, that also includeds a site submit, for free!

Take a look at http://123webmaster.com/Tutorials/SitePromotion.html

The following is just my opinion!

The technology and advances of the web engines have come full circle and reverted.

What is this jibberish you ask? Well this is the rant of a former SE (search engine) rapist. The days of submitting to the SE's is quickly succumbing to the pay per list! What you are currently paying for is someone who scrounged the internet and found 100's or even 1000's of FFA's. Most of the SE's are now and probably rightfully and necessarilly hand indexed...With the advent of DMOZ.org (which not originally) found that manipulation of spiders, crawlers, scrubbers and every other type of "bot" was simply NOT producing the quality effect desired by almost all users ie 'searches'.
You may get your submissions to a few (or maybe even submitted to all) SE's...however most of the time it is something easier done manually in a couple of hours (WITH A CREDIT CARD IN HAND) to post your site to the bigger SE's, most of which share database engines...be it Inkatomi or DMOZ. Most all of these engines or indexes are posting based on a fee basis for any 'HIGH' positions or 'featured' listings.(Goto.com)!

For what it's worth the hand submission to the 20 or so major SE's will equivalate to the time spent deleting spam email from FFA's and crap link lists!

I apologize for the grammatical mutilation!
My two cents...
