Does anyone know how to stop people from taking your pics?

Valley,

There have been some attempts to stop people from taking images from websites, such as the "no right click" javascript, however ultimately there is no real method to stop people. Once someone has seen a picture on the web, they have already downloaded it to their computer, and can always pull it out of theit "temporary internet files" folder. In the end, if someone wants to steal your work, they will.

There are a couple of methods. My first advice, try Secure Image, download from http://www.artistscope.com/

I have used this special image encryption program, and have not found any methods yet, to bypass the protection provided by this program.

There are at least one more encryption solution to my knowledge, try this one first. See how it works by surfin' to my site, and try to cath the penguin!

However, by taking a screenshot, it's still possible to grab
any pic, so the 100% protection doesn't exist.

March 13; yet another option, go to http://www.antileech.com/.
You get a strong protection by leeching. Go to my site http://www.webbyggaren.nu/, and try to steal the main picture, then you'll see.

Even if they could access it out of there Temp folder, a lot of 'picture stealers' wouldn't know how to do that, you would probably cut down on theft by quite a bit by using that 'no right click' javascript.

JohnM does have a good point there.
Although there is no way to stop people from taking your images, a no right click script may deter some thieves, although it may be anoying to some visitors.

Yes. You can do that. Just find the name of the picture in the source. You should be able to find a copy of that file in your Temporary Internet Files folder.

But, not all internet users are that savvy. Even if using a no right click script saves a couple people from "grabbing" your image you may feel it is worth it.

On the other hand, you can look at it this way...

"Imitation is the highest form of flattery."

I also have to wonder why you are so worried. Are you an artist posting major works for sale? Or do you have so many visitors that you believe thousands of them are stealing your graphics everyday?

If you are posting work that you have done and are trying to sell, you could overwrite it with a copyright message. That would reguire at least some decent skill with a graphics program to pull the text out.

Every once in a while I will build a test page to woo a client. Usually if I create any custom graphics that I think are real good, I put a large faded text string with my name over them. I only do this if I am worried that the prospective client might have their "nephew" use the graphics I posted on the test page. Plus I only leave these pages up for a very short period of time.

This might be parania, but sometime you just get that weird feeling about a client. I might add, that everytime I had that weird feeling, I did not get the job. I usually don't do test pages anymore. I let the sites I have done speak for themselves. I don't like working for free!

Hey KMan,

Just where can I see your work? I don't know if I've ever seen anything that you've done before.
