What does everybody thing about the internet tax bills? There is a petition going around that I think is worth signing: http://www.nomorenettax.com/
I signed it, I dont think that we should put anymore taxes on the internet!

I think that it's a good idea for all of us to sign the petition. The internet is already heavily taxed, and these new bills can choke many businesses that are just getting going.

While it probably doesn't hurt to sign the petition, it's more effective to directly contact your state's politicians. Individual letters are a more powerful message than a net petition.
As a marketing person, I question the motive of a site getting over 50K impressions for a self-serving banner ad in the name of public service. Also, if I were evil, this is a great way to build a marketing list...

Interesting to say the least, that this tread is 2yrs old..
well, still no 'set in stone' tax laws formed yet. Its rather contraversial & I believe that 'state sales tax' is just. If I buy a product in Texas from a Texas merchant, I should pay Texas sales tax. However, if I'm in Texas & I make a mail order / phone order / net order... purchase.. from a merchant in the state of California.. then I should NOT be required to pay California state sales tax.
* i'm sure the biggest issue is not 'state sales tax' but rather gvmt. sales tax.
** The latest new's... ICANN is trying to pass is TAX ON THE REGISTRATION of a Domain Name. That's the craziest thing I've ever heard. As we know, a domain is not 'owned by the registrant'.. it is only on a 'term of use' and must be 're registered' upon expiration. It's endless.. one never really 'owns' a domain name.
So.. if they plan to tax something you
a) never really own..?? how does that balance? It doesn't..
and
b) does this mean , if ICANN get's this passed.. that each time we 'reregister' our domains, we'll be TAXED?? geeze!
