Fastest way to play mp3s on site

most preferably I'd like an mp3 as a bg, but i realize this isn't the easiest or fastest, because it takes forever to download. any suggestions about streaming, file conversion, etc, along w/ a how-to would be greatly appreciated.

Why don't you just put a link to your audio to let your viewers download it if they want it?

Flash has an excellent compression rate for Audio, you can actually specify the bit rate you want the file to play at. Very cool way to add audio to a website
