page refresh clicking

Hi there, I want to refresh a page every like 2 seconds. I know the code to do this but whenever I do, windows plays the "click" sound and the screen flickers...
Is there any way to refresh a certain page without these problems?
Please help I am creating a PHP based chat script and need to do this urgently... thanks...

uhm.... do you really care if the page clicks and flickers? I mean... it clicks on response to going to a new page... and it flickers because its reloading new content...

you might be able to get rid of the clicking... but the page flickering is it reloading content. Its sort of a self created problem.

you can hide a frame, and pass info to the page that way... that would get rid of the flickering.

The 'clicking' is probably just the setting in Start...Control Panel...Sounds...Start Navigation

By default it's start.wav, but as it's a user-setting there's nothing you can do about it.
