If I post ROMs on my site:

1.) How will the police find out?
2.) How exactly do they shut my site down
3.) Do they wipe out your account?
4.) Do they warn first?
5.) Do I go to prison?
6.) What punishments?

this is a good question
1. If people saw that you have roms on your site, and if people sued you, polices will find it out.
2. It depends on your web site host. Some hosts RESTRICTLY set the rule about uploadinf roms, for example, Crosswinds (http://www.crosswinds.net) will bill you $500 if they found out your web site has roms.
3. Usually yes, it depends on your hosts' Term Of Service.
4. Again it depends on the host, sometime they don't warn you because they felt that everyone should know that.
5. Well... this is tough, but I don't think you will go to prison, unless you claim the product is your and it's actually the copyright of other people. To upload roms is not a big deal --- even though it doesn't seem legal --- it won't probably get you to jail
6. It varies, but I don't think you will go to jail, any punishment? I think you might only get your web site account deleted.

actually, there are million web sites that has roms, and it's hard to claim the copyright on a digital things. I haven't seen any web site that content roms actually get punishment or troubles.

Here is a suggestion that might help you.

if you really want to put a rom on your web site, remember to put the disclaimer on it, which said to the user that they must delete the games within 24 hours or you will not hold any legal responsiblility.

hope this helps
