Has anyone here ever - or do you now - use clickbank's offer to be a merchant? I've been thinking about starting an affiliate program and the price sure is right, but seems to me here and there I've read a few negative things - anyone have any idea? I have to say I've been very happy using them for charge purchases for my visitors...
Tx!

Thanks for the post on ClickBank,
I too am curious as to the experiences both retailers and users have had with ClickBank.
I've heard far less negative about ClickBank then I have PayPal..
Goodluck with your affiliate program launch!:rocker:

:) me, too! I was roaming around forums a while back and saw something about clickbank not paying out and maybe going bankrupt. It was a business type forum and that thread caught my eye because I had just signed on with them for selling my e-books and such, so I was a little alarmed. I then read something about how easy it is for web-savvy people to somehow use your clickbank affiliate links to get credit for their own account. I got that as an article in a newsletter and there is actually software available now to use with clickbank affiliate links to make darned sure that doesn't happen. I should have kept that article, but I may know where to find that software. If I find the URL I'll post it for you or anyone else who is interested. I'm pretty sure it's all explained really well on the site.

I should add that I did e-mail clickbank about what I saw in that forum and they assured me the bankruptcy thing was not true, just a rumor that started. As for paying, I've never had any problem with them.

Jen
interesting...
? Is it ClickBank themselves whom are marketing/selling the 'affiliate link secure' software? Just curious. I'll have a snoop around their site..
If you find the info on that software, please post it!
Thanks!:rocker:
What kind of e-books do you write & promote?

Oh yeah! - I meant to see if I could find that before, sorry - I'm going right now! (Dog gone affiliate-merchant sites changing things every day got me lost in space..) Wish me luck - oh and no, it wasn't clickbank themselves that I heard about it from, but I suppose it's possible they're selling it too?? I really don't know - I knew I should have kept that article! I shall be back soon...

I'm ssooooo glad I could help for a change! Truly. I like helping! :D I had those links bookmarked but lost them when I crashed, but I remembered where I heard about it from and thankfully I was able to hunt them down. I put them in a separate folder I already backed up this time so should you ever lose them, just give me a holler!

I have used clickbank in the past. They are bottom level, and not a true "merchant account", so their fees are higher, and their chargebacks are more frequent. However it is easy to get started with them and they have no upfront fees. I would suggest them to someone new at commerce and wanting to "try things out", http://www.2checkout.com would be the alternative if you'd like a second choice. If you ever get rolling with serious sales though, make sure to move to a true merchant account such as verisign, or a reseller of authorize.net, as it will save you a bundle with larger sales.
