We're looking to expand our online tools at 123webmaster, we've got the frame maker, the mouseover code generator, and lots more. What new tool would you like to see? WHat will make your day go by easier?

I think a gif/jpg cruncher would be a good addition to the tool box.

I would suggest that you started out with removing the scripts that were stolen from EchoEcho.Com.

For example:

DROP DOWN MENU TOOL: http://www.123webmaster.com/ToolBox/DropDownMenuMaker.html
was stolen from: http://www.echoecho.com/tooldropdown.htm

POP-UP_WINDOW-TOOL: http://www.123webmaster.com/ToolBox/NewWinCreator.html
was stolen from: http://www.echoecho.com/toolpopupgenerator.htm

RESOLUTION REDIRECT: http://www.123webmaster.com/ToolBox/ScreenRedirectScriptMaker.html
was stolen from: http://www.echoecho.com/toolscreenresolutionredirect.htm

I personally spent many hours creating these tools - then put them on the web so people could use them for free. Only to see them ripped off - the copyright notice changed - and absolutely no credits!!!

How can anyone run a site devoted to webmasters when they lack even the most basic rules that all webmasters must respect?

Don't take credits for what others put a lot of hard work into - and even more so don't steal what's allready offered for free!!!

If I placed a sign in the window of my car saying "Hey, I don't need this car tonight so I left the keys in it for anyone that could make use of it" - would you sink low enough to steal it????

Okay - I will consider this posting a fair warning - remove the stolen scripts immediately and I will not take this any further. Or leave them up there and I will make sure that you guys will pay for it AND! remove it.

Henrik,

This is the first that I've heard that theses tools we received are not original creations. The matter is now being looked into. Having performed contract work for us yourself, I hope you realize that piracy is not something that we practice.

Hi Jason

Well, I can assure you that they aren't, since I wrote them myself.

If you had no knowledge of this you are of course excused ;o)

I'm sure that you will find out who is responsible for this and do what you have to do about it.

Take care!

PS:

You wrote: "Having performed contract work for us yourself..."

- I haven't performed contract work for you.

Dear Hendrik,
These online tools you have mentioned and a few more were part of A1 javaScripts before that section was moved to 123webmaster.
They were submitted or presented for use on the A1 JavaScript site approximately 1 year ago in their current form, I can assure you that if I had known your site even existed and contained the original or similar tools to these, contact would have been made with you and permission sought and an arrangement made. At that time I could have also been able to provide you with information that you may have been able to use to track down who removed them from your site.

I have personally removed the offending tools myself at this time, however we would be interested in using these very useful tools on 123webmaster.com and I hope you can see your way past this occurrance and we can begin a discussion on what it may take so we may do so.

It has always been the policy of A1 JavaScripts to give credit where credit is due providing it can be found and I apoligize if this incident has upset you.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks for taking care of the issue.

I truly appreciate your cooperation on this.
It just doesn't motivate a whole lot to create these freebies when they're ripped off. I'm sure you guys know exactly what I mean there - must happen to you quite often as well.

Have a great day!

Henrik

Btw. : there are still dead links to the removed tools on this page:

Henrik,

The contract work in question that you performed for us was the members section that you rebuilt on httpcity.com

Not that it really matters, but I didn't do that member section for you.

I had never seen or heard about httpcity till you mentioned it.

Anyway - Have a great day and good luck with your site ;o)

Henrik,

Uncanny. You are only the second person that I have met to have that name, and you have a similar last name as our programmer as well. He also lurks these forums from time to time.

Also, yes, I too know what it is like to have my work taken by others, and it is never a plesant experience!

I would like to see a tool which can turn images into vector based code for use in newer brwosers (IE, I guess).

I've seen a company that had a product which wrote a javascript which scrambled all the html source so that it was unreadable. That would be a very nice tool if it is possible to use as in a browser. :D
