First off I run the All 4 Webmasters Resource Directory (http://www.all4webmasters.com/). It's a directory of organized links that are beneficial to webmasters. I find that the text link advertisements implemented into the actually directory generate from 10 up 50 times better click thru ratio then a standard banner does.
What am I trying to say? Well what I mean is that you will endure better success if you make your visitors feel like their not clicking an advertisement. Note that this technique will not work if used in the wrong place. More and more today I see webmasters trying to trick their visitors into clicking their “money making” links. The best policy is honesty!! Target your visitors and show certain advertisements on certain pages, show it to someone who cares… literally! This will result in more sales and a lot more click thru’s.
