hey all,

I am troubled. I would really love to get at least a little traffic to my website. I mean im not getting ANYTHING right now, I would love to even get 10 unique hits a day, right now im the only one going!

I have submitted to alot of search engines, and its been 6 weeks, still not in any, and my meta tags are good too.

I have looked for topsites but i only found 1 for entertainment that was actually worth puting an ad on my site.

Banner exchanges usually dont work and you need traffic to begin with,

I think im screwed

1. Firstly fix up your site.
2. Identify your target demographic.
3. Go to http://htmlforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=12742 and read my promotional techiniques.
4. Search the net for promotional ideas for your demographic. (eg. Find a soccer site banner exchange for a soccer site).

My only problem is that I can't really identify a demographic for your site. Maybe teenagers. I'd say kids, but as lame as it sounds, I dont think they (or their parents) would like to visit a site with the word azz for obvious reasons. :rolleyes:

Anyway, just my suggestions.

Here's a few tips...your 1st line should point to the current version of HTML on all your pages,

Also in your keywords and content take out the comma's and Robots index and follow.

Miss "DOH" is butting in here - how do you get that info? Okay, I know that sounds dumb, but I just don't have a clue! I make all my pages in notepad so far - I have that editor, firstpage but haven't sat down to learn it, although when I fooled with it a little a ways back, I noticed it inserted a line like that. Now here's where I'll really make your eyes roll - I didn't like it and kept taking it out! Okay, okay, I don't know how to use them - you'll all find out when I start studying it cuz I'll be asking questions! :o (If I get annoying, just ignore me..lol)

OK Troubled,

Here's a big tip and the way a lot of the big boys go!

Complete your site, optimize for the keyword or phrase you want to target...such as blue widgets, widgets...etc... (make sure your content mentions them several times), and then in your image tags remove the alt= and replace with title= tag and place your keywords there. Be sure it is worded so as to be a help to surfers who may not be able to view graphics.

THEN.......Submit it to http://dmoz.org/ that is the ODP, open directory project, and is human evaluated, not spidered.

All of the major search engines use that directory and they also pick up the new sites.

Meanwhile search on your keywords, find the top listed sites and hit them up to exchange links with you..the spiders find your links and then find you. Quicker than submitting and cheaper than paid inclusion.

P.S.
Be sure you put at least one searchable keyword in your title!

Remember...CONTENT is KING! Write, write, write!

I think the best way to get traffic, is to have link or banner exchange with other site.
Make your own web site banner with any graphic tools, then find some people to exchange banner and links.
you'll get at least 1000 hits if you trade links and banners with at least 5 other web sites (if they are not too bad)

I've testet many many Traffic-Tips and Tricks last 3 years. One thing I've really had is a problem with the Doctype-declaration:
At that engine: no Listing with Doctype!
Ok maybe that was a special engine and it is years ago but I tested this with different sites and definitely the doctype was the problem.

That's not normal i know! Most time this will give no problems i know.
