Questions about web stats......

I'm still a bit confused about my web stats....maybe someone could help me clear this up.

1.) What is a 'user agent'? Is this the browser a visitor used?

2.) What exactly, in black and white, is the difference between a 'visit' and a 'hit'?

3.) What is a 'search string'?

1. The user agent has info on the person's computer such as Windows 98, etc.

2. A 'hit' is any request on the server, including text and graphics. For example, an HTML page with two graphics counts as 3 hits. A visit is the number of people who visit your site.

3. A search string is the keywords people use on a search engine to find something...then they access your site.
