Ok,

Officially AOL is not a software, it's an isp, but they do make you connect through their program which is more like software than it is like a dial up connection manager, so I can get away with this on this forum.

I'd just like to officially state that this thing is a piece of Junk. I signed up because at the time I needed something quick, and I had the disks handy, and since then I've been too occupied to quit.

Today alone it conked out on me twice while i was in an ICQ chat with another webmaster working our some bartering, it was embarassing to say the least.

What's even worse than that is often I can't send mail with outlook, although I can receive just fine. I'm not sure of the specifics, but is definately caused by AOL. If I sign off and on repeatedly, using different phone numbers, and hitting different IPs, I can eventually send. I'm also pretty sure it causes password problems with the login on a few admin areas. I had no where else to vent, so I thought I'd do it here http://talkboard.123webmaster.com/ubbhtml/smile.gif

Anyway, I'll be receiving MSN internet access with my new computer (yes, they suckered me on the $400 rebate). But I figured that it can't be any worse than this, and they at least offer DSL in case I ever want to upgrade.

The ruling's in, drop AOL, even if you're too lazy to hunt down another ISP, it's worth it. Anyway, I'd better hit the submit button before i get boo

I know how AOL goes. I used it for three years, and then I was introduced to pipeline and never came back.

Personally I think that if you can afford it, (my company pays for mine), then you should get DSL or a pipeline conection. It's so wonderful. [sniff]

However Jason, I hear that MSN is a good one. I never hear much on it kicking you off or messing with your e-mail. http://talkboard.123webmaster.com/ubbhtml/smile.gif

AOL bites! I did use them for 2 years by no choice, also...but I bet the same server you're dialing up also has prodigy, well two of mine were shared and with Prodigy 5, I rarely get bumped...They (prodigy) also has great service by phone for personal 1-on-1's...

it's something to look into...

DSL's truly wonderful (I'm using it now), though it's not as wonderful as the provider claims. My connection frequently breaks, and I'm thinking about cable or T1, if I get the chance.

Like many others I was suckered into the seventh ring of hell called AOL. Then after 2 years of disconnects I did the math and found out that I could go cable for $.50 a day more. It was a christmas present from my wife and I'll love her forever for it!!
