Lol..I know, me either until the other day - someone told me that and frankly, I couldn't see it, but didn't want to make any judgement calls 'cuz I'm sure no expert! That's why I was curious if anyone else ever heard this.

Thanks...I think I'll just scrap that idea.

I'm not exactly sure I understand you correctly, but if you are talking about giving away free graphics as something to bring in, or bring back traffic, it can be effective, as can giving away anything for free. But before you get too far into it, you should know that if your site turns into a popular graphics site, your bandwidth bill can go up sharply, and if you have a bandwidth limit on your account, you might find that it will be quickly reached. Unless you have a good plan on how to monetize the traffic that will drain heavily on your bandwidth resources, you shouldn't get too crazy with it.

Well bandwidth was one of my concerns - plus the fact that I stink at graphics and would have to use stuff on this disk set I bought. I was talking about getting traffic to someone who is just starting her own website and she claimed using - as in giving away - graphics drove "just tons of traffic, Jeni!" Well, I somehow wonder about that and that is what prompted me to ask. But, it did get me wondering if a small section wouldn't be a nice addition to the site, but I think I'll stick with scraping it for now.

Thanks for your thoughts on this, Jason - I can see where sure, it could be a draw to visitors and all but would feel better if I had something original to offer for one, and would want to somehow tie it into the site for another. Maybe later when my site is rockin'! :rocker:

(right! lol)

Clip-art sites are huge traffic getters (amongst the biggest on the net) but as Jason said, if you can't convert the traffic to cash, you are in for a hell of a hosting bill.

That's a consideration I don't care for. I do love the graphics sites myself because I don't know how to do my own so I really enjoy looking at all the neat graphics, icons, backgrounds...you name it! There must be tons more like me out there.

I imagine if a person can have original stuff (good stuff) it would be a great draw.

Jenny, why dont you consider putting up some backgrounds, icons of related material? If I remember right, your site is nutrition related... so check out what what similar magazines are showing. Maybe make a few wallpapers of similar related themes, and offer a couple out a month. That should keep the bandwith low since they are targeted at a specific audience. And, they would fit into your website concept....

on another note...
If you have the original of your avatar, t would be pretty easy to make it transparent. Just a thought.

You know, that is not a bad idea at all. I bought this three disk set way back when I first started my old site and it has tons of icons and buttons and such and it says you're free to use all of them for anything you want. I guess one of my concerns was, it wouldn't be right to snatch some off the net from someone else and I don't know how to make any, but I nearly forgot about that disk set I have until I read your post! I'll have to see what is all on there - maybe just a page or two would be a nice addition and still not take up much bandwidth.
Thanks so much!

But....on this....

sniff..sniff..I don't know what you mean!?!?! :(

oh, I meant saving the pic on a transparent background, so you could lose the white box surrounding it. I used the lasso tool to snip away the extra white space.

that one should look good on a grey background as well. Enjoy.

That is so slick! You see, I don't know how to do that - I haven't a clue...sigh. I do know how to add text now...

Again, this is a foreign language to me! I should have left the blond gal up as my av, huh!

I use PS, but also have PSP. Do you use either of those?

Well, I have Paint that came with Win ME and use it for little things but I never actually made a graphic at all. I just use it for say there is some writing I want to remove from a graphic or something. The I have Irfan View which I use for adding text and resizing and getting the sizes for my web site and stuff.

You see, I'm totally dense when it comes to working with graphics. heck, I'm amazed I can do the little I do!
