how to remove the flickering

Try moving your xml information into a meta tag, rather than having it before the doctype. Some browsers do all manner of funny things when there's something before the doctype.

It looks like the onmouseout (or whatever it's called, I don't know javascript very well) doesn't let the fade-in know it's supposed to stop fading in and you get a conflict between the two. I can't help you further, but that's my guess. :-]
