Hi all,

Back links play a very important role in search engines ranking. There are following way to get back links.

1- Article submission and comment posting.
2- Own blog creation and comments on blogs.
3- Participation in forums and place a link in signature.
4- Submission in book marking sites.
5- Submission in directories.
6- RSS feed submission
7- Press release submission

I hope that above information will help you to get a better search engine ranking. If you know another way to get one way back links, then please give your valuable comments and suggestions.

Thanks for the advice - but we don't allow signatures until you've been around a while and posted quite a few more times the once.

link baiting techniques are great. Creating a template and giving it out for free with keyword rich anchor text is a great way

Actually - Google have gone on public record as punishing such techniques as loading WordPress templates like you suggest, and have even blacklisted websites that use them.

So... not recommended

twitter is a nice site to get traffic but not backlinks. Correct me if I'm wrong...

i think sites like Twitter uses the nofollow attribute on any links - so Google will not follow those.

Your list is missing the single most import and most effective method:
Create original content. Create something people have never seen before and they will show it to others for you.

I read somewhere yesterday that links from forum signatures don't have a great deal of impact is this true?

I suppose some forums like mentioned about twitter will stop bots from following links but really any SEO guys out there know what is the biggest key thing to do for SEO techniques.

I have also read on SEO websites that certain packages include x number of back links per month does this mean that the SEO person just adds my link to there signature on forums and other article writing sites and counts that as a back link?

That's pretty much what they do, yes. That's one of the reasons why we have our 30 days and 30 posts rule.

Thing is, if you don't have content that will keep people interested and coming back to your site, no amount of backlinking or other SEO tactics will work over the long haul. First you get good, *then* you get popular. HTMLforums started out as no more than word-of-mouth (so to speak) advertising and we've been going on for almost 10 years now.

Backlinks are important, but to who?

Do some research first! If someone comes up to you and says, hey I got a website directory - I'll list your website if you list mine. Chances are they have a low page rank, which will then in turn lower your page rank and raise theirs.

So my best advice, do research :) in the end if you have good content and a lot of it - that's a great way of achieving great SEO!

Correct. But there's plenty of speculation that some search engines don't follow (excuse the pun) google's lead and DO allow value to flow despite No Follow tags.

Google also expects to see some No Follow links to your site, so don't exclude No Follow blogs and forums from the sites you post to.

yeah - but who cares about those search engines... :p

the three major engines are Google, Yahoo and Live Search - and all three ignore links with nofollow set... there just isn't any user base on any other search engine to worry about...

and since people are mostly concerned about posted links causing a bad PR in Google - then nofollow is what you need to stop this.

the only concern with search engines out of the big three above are those that don't obey the robots.txt file - and this is why you shouldn't rely on the robots.txt file to 'protect' areas of a site from search engines.

yeah., a lot of research can really help.
