. o O ( How about you browse to specific web page, and the browser loads a Winamp-'like' skin: cursor, button picts, font, bg, all change based on URL ... when you leave the page/site, the GUI would return to it's default, boring gray buttons, sans-serif text).

This presents security issues, as it's downloading cursors and pictures behind the scenes, an evil webmaster could make all the buttons black, so newbie user's get trapped..

There's already something like this available, to skin your Windows Explorer / Internet Explorer, but it's a static form. Hotbar (http://www.hotbar.com) only changes when the user chooses it. My idea would have the GUI looking different based on where you click while surfin'.

I'd like to hear your voice on this. Is this idea worth preaching? I doubt this will actually happen, but like to incite arguments... Common!

well check out Neoplanet. it is a browser that is based on the IE engine and it is skinable. the only thing is you can't have it change depending on what page you are on. unless they have changed it to do just that. but the site would not have a control on it, but the browser would remember what site you want the skin to go on.

Actually, I came to a site with a customized toolbar. They must have done away with it, with some script, and they had their own in it's place. It was pretty cool, except for the fact that it was in German (Deutsch).

must have been something in your files that made it happen. as it is impossible to change the users chrome without downloading a dll or ocx file. if you could change the users chrome then why not take the view -> source out and make it so nobody can view your html.
