I'm mostly curious about the download time, wanted to get a few opinions!?!?!?! Also, I wouldn't mind knowing what ya thought of the overall appearance!

Great logo. The effects on that graphic are well polished.

Since the gateway page really only contains the big logo, and not too much else, they only way to reduce it would to be to use something like giflube to reduce the image size.

I like the left nav a lot. I think a good effect for it though, would be if each catergory lit up with a "mouse over effect" as the mouse passed over it.

You could also increase your load time by losing a few of your unproductive link partners, or converting them to text links. Button links tend to make a whole site take longer to load, and their click rate tends to be lower as well.

The bottom of your page could also use some tuning, to optomize the blank space you have. You should also bring your bottom nav up past the banner exchange banner.

With a little tightening up of loose space, your design could be super. You're off to a great start.
