animating menus

Can someone help me on making an animated menu?

Say I have a menu that's a list of 3 links:

link1
link2
link3

When I click a link, I'd like the the rest of the menu to shift downward to reveal sublinks.

link1
- sublink
- sublink
link2
link3

I think I've seen some webpages actually make a Flash-like animation where the menu moves downward, except they weren't using any Flash. Also it'd be nice if they could also contract the menu.


Can anyone help me here?
